In February 2026, ANC 1E unanimously authorized the Special Committee on Georgia Avenue Economic Development, formalizing a sustained effort to strengthen one of Ward 1’s most important commercial corridors and align neighborhood priorities with the District’s FY27 budget process. The committee is charged with turning on-the-ground conditions along Georgia Avenue into concrete policy and funding recommendations. The committee examines commercial vacancies, pedestrian activity, business needs, and public safety conditions within ANC 1E and develops targeted strategies aimed at stabilizing storefronts, increasing foot traffic, and supporting long-term small business growth.

The Committee’s meetings are typically held virtually via Zoom on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. ET, unless otherwise noted. Meetings are open to the public, and all ANC 1E residents are encouraged to attend and participate—no committee membership is required.
