The ANC 1E Zoning and Economic Development Committee helps shape the future of our neighborhoods. The committee reviews zoning, land use, development, economic development, and licensing matters with a focus on thoughtful planning, transparent process, inclusive growth, and equitable outcomes. Its work helps ensure that change in ANC 1E reflects the needs of residents and supports a stronger, more vibrant community.

Meeting Information

The ZED Committee’s meetings are typically held virtually via Zoom on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. ET, unless otherwise noted. Meetings are open to the public, and all ANC 1E residents are encouraged to attend and participate—no committee membership is required.

Committee Responsibilities

The ZED is responsible for the following:

  • Identify appropriate issues in regards to job creation, business development, housing development and policy, and project development;
  • Identify appropriate issues in regards to land-use planning, zoning, historic preservation, and regulations;
  • Draft resolutions for ANC 1E’s consideration;
  • Coordinate public meetings as necessary. If a public meeting is held, a participant sign-in sheet and meeting notes shall be provided to ANC 1E within 30 calendar days of the meeting date;
  • Research and report findings and provide recommendations to ANC 1E;
  • Track and notify ANC 1E of all relevant hearing dates; and,
  • Review applications for licenses with the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration, and make protest recommend to the full ANC.
