ANC 1E is a seven-member commission elected to represent a diverse cross-section of Ward 1 in Washington, D.C. Our Commission covers most of Park View, Pleasant Plains, and the neighborhoods surrounding Howard University. Bounded by Georgia Avenue, Sherman Avenue, and parts of Harvard Street and Irving Street, our neighborhoods reflect a rich legacy of Black homeownership, civic activism, and cultural history.

Today, ANC 1E serves a multigenerational, multilingual, and rapidly evolving population. We work closely with residents, businesses, institutions, and D.C. agencies to ensure that our community’s needs and voices are heard—especially on issues like housing, development, public safety, education, and infrastructure.
