ABOUT COMMISSIONER PHILIPPA HAWKER
Philippa Hawker calls Park View home, where she lives with her wife, Rebekah, and their cherished pack of pets. Originally from Southern California, Philippa moved to the East Coast in 2014 and has loved it ever since. In 2022, she was excited to accept a position in her dream city, Washington, DC, where she discovered a warm and welcoming community that aligns with her family’s values and progressive ideals.
She’s a passionate member of the local “circular economy,” often fixing up furniture and other items to give them a second life in her neighborhood. She enjoys riding her electric scooter around the neighborhood and greeting every dog she meets (along with their owners)!
Philippa feels lucky to have built a career around her passion for local government, especially focusing on making water utilities accessible and affordable for everyone. As an intelligence analyst for the District of Columbia’s Office of the Inspector General, she spends her days conducting risk assessments and planning for the future. Through her work on pandemic oversight and accountability, Philippa has seen the crucial role ANC commissioners play in the District, and she’s excited to keep supporting DC residents in a meaningful and personal way.
